PANTONE OF THE YEAR
You might have wondered what influences colour palettes that influence fashion, home décor and furnishings and product designs. Pantone’s Colour of the Year is decided by the professionals at the Pantone Colour Institute for the past 23 years.
The selection process is a rigorous one, in which the Institutes team research colour influences across the world and across sectors. They scan emerging trends in film production, fashion, art, design, travel, and lifestyle. New technologies such as social media platforms and products are also considered in determining the Pantone Colour of the Year.
The Pantone Colour Institute is responsible for selecting the Pantone Colour of the Year. This selection has a direct impact on fashion, décor, product design, and brand identity creation. Together with global partners they leverage the power of psychology, and emotion of colour in the selection of pantones.
The Institute selected Very Peri™ as the colour of the year – from the stable of blues with a violet, red undertone, this colour is fitting for a world emerging from the grappling effects of the global pandemic.
“As we move into a world of unprecedented change, the selection of PANTON 17-3938 Very Peri brings a novel perspective and vision of the trusted and beloved blue colour family, encompassing the qualities of the blues, yet at the same time with its violet, red undertone, PANTON 17-3938 Very Peri displays a spritely, joyous attitude and dynamic presence that encourages courageous creativity and imaginative expressions”
